Partner relationship programmes

The College of Animal Welfare seeks to contribute to animal welfare through education and training and works with a number of partners to improve standards, offer new areas of provision and create access opportunities in different geographical areas. The College invests in the development of specialist provision that support our mission and values.

The College will also consider investing in providers of excellence in areas of provision outside our strict mission statement on a case by case basis.

Our motive for entering into such arrangements will never be exclusively for financial reward and such partnerships will always expect to have a strategic benefit to both parties. We are looking for partners that enter into such arrangements for the long term.

We recognise that access to resources is an important element in achieving this and therefore we will consider sharing funding and other resources with partners to help facilitate the delivery of quality provision.

Partner relationship management

We will not enter into or continue with partnership relationships with organisations whose activities are not compatible with our mission, vision and values.

Each partner will have an annual contract performance review that will consider performance, priorities, new opportunities and areas for improvement and an annual financial reconciliation. Every three months during the year, the partners will participate in a quarterly performance review.

Financial payments are generally made on a monthly basis, although specific projects may have a financial agreement that specifies a payment plan based on the achievement of contractually agreed milestone or completion targets.

There are a number of principles which form the basis of our Partnership Relationship Programmes.

  1. Provision must be of a high quality and commensurate with provision offered by the College of Animal Welfare
  2. Partner relationships are built on mutual trust and that both parties will seek to manage the relationship on this basis
  3. Partnership arrangements are formalised under legally binding agreements which specify the roles, responsibilities and obligations of both parties
  4. The Partner must be financially sound, managed in professional manner and operate ethically in all of its activities.

Support package

The College offers a support package to its partners which will be bespoke to the partners particular circumstances and may include:

  • Sharing the funding received for the provision delivered subject to contractually agreed caps and limits
  • One off and short term IT grants and support
  • Access to the College’s facilities and learning resources
  • Use of the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • Discounted services utilising the benefits gained by the College’s supplier contracts
  • Subsidised training and professional qualifications such as nationally recognised qualifications for lecturers, teachers and assessors e.g. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS), Training, Mentoring and Coaching skills, Assessment and Quality & Assurance Awards (TAQA), Management and leadership qualifications as well as other training opportunities beneficial to the partner or their staff.

The nature and value of the support package is based on the College’s assessment of financial risk, quality, available resources and the experience of the partner in meeting the requirements of funded provision.

Bonuses may also be given for the achievement of success and learner retention targets by individual partners against previously agreed values.

The typical percentage range of fees retained is 60-80%, this is calculated on risk and the support required to provide high quality provision.
