QUESTION TIME TRAVELS TO LANCASHIRE |

The RCVS Officer team will be heading to Preston on Thursday 18 March, to take questions from members of the veterinary profession. Veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, practice managers and others involved in the profession are all invited to the meeting to debate current veterinary issues. The meeting will be held in the Admiral Suite at the Marriott Hotel, Preston. Guests are invited to join colleagues for a drink and a bite to eat from 6:30pm, followed by Question Time at 7:15pm. The guests set the agenda for the evening and questions are welcome on any veterinary issue - likely topics include veterinary legislation, veterinary nurse training, disciplinary issues and new standards for the Practice Standards Scheme. CRUFTS 2010: 11th-14th MARCH |

This year's DFS Crufts is fast approaching and will be held, once again, at the NEC in Birmingham. The College of Animal Welfare's trade stand will be found in Hall 3, Stand 98. There will be a wide range of animal care and veterinary nursing books for sale as well as the College's new 2010 Prospectus. DID YOU KNOW YOU COULD GET PAID £2,500 TO EMPLOY AN APPRENTICE? |

Until the end of March 2010, the Government will pay employers £2,500 for every new unemployed apprentice aged 16 or 17 that they take on. In addition to this, the full cost of the apprenticeship training will be for. All that is required is required from employers is that they pay the apprentice at least £95 per week and support them through their training. Work based apprenticeships at The College of Animal Welfare are available in Animal Care, Horse Care, Veterinary Nursing and Customer Service. We can even help find an apprentice for you, if required, free of charge via the National Apprenticeship Service. NO ELECTION FOR RCVS VN COUNCIL THIS YEAR |

Only two nominations have been received for the RCVS Veterinary Nurses Council, so there will be no VN Council election this year. The two places will be filled by Hilary Orpet and Suzanne May. Hilary is a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing at the Royal Veterinary College, and will start her second four-year term on Council. Suzanne is Head of the Veterinary Nursing Approved Centre and Senior Lecturer at Harper Adams University College. The pair will take up their positions formally on RCVS Day in July. |

The event will run from 11am - 2pm and is held at the College’s centre at Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire.
