Bite-Size CPD: Equine - Geriatric Medicine
The longer you have a horse or a donkey, the older it gets! Despite the care and love owners lavish on their cantering companions, the simple fact is that elderly patients suffer from completely different diseases than their younger counterparts. This lecture will cover the common diseases which affect the older horse, pony or donkey, and how these patients can be helped to have a good quality of life.
This lecture is the sixth in a six part series on Equine Nursing.
Delegates will consider:
• Dental disorders
• Cushing’s disease
• Liver disease
• Metabolic syndrome
• Orthopaedic conditions
• Neoplastic conditions
This lecture will appeal to VNs or SVNs involved in the care of geriatric equines.
