Bite-Size CPD: The Respiratory Patient

Course Introduction:

Any patient with a severe respiratory illness is a challenge to nurse! Effective management can often be very difficult, with patients requiring careful nursing and frequent assessment to avoid their deterioration.

This evening course looks at dealing with these patients effectively in order to achieve a positive outcome. We will look at preparing for and dealing with the emergency respiratory patient. It will also look at when and how to intervene, and the equipment we are likely to require.

A patient with dyspnoea doesn't have to give you the blues - book on and learn how to give them the best chances you can!

Course Objectives:

- Methods of administering oxygen
- Placement and maintenance of thoracostomy tubes
- Nursing care of respiratory disease patients including, treatment and nursing care of surgical and medical cases will be discussed using case studies
