This one day practical course, aimed at veterinary nurses in primary care and referral practice, will deliver all you need to know to confidently nurse your patients with haematological diseases!
Nurses are fundamentally important in achieving the best outcome with our small animal haematological cases. However, these cases and the assessment of their haematological abnormalities can be intimidating.
Delivered by James McMurrough BVSC CertAVP (SAM, VC) MRCVS, we will cover various diseases including the different causes of anaemia, the common immune mediated haematological diseases (immune medicated haemolytic anaemia and immune mediated thrombocytopaenia), transfusion medicine, and how to assess haematological parameters in practice including assessment of the blood smear.
The session will include a practical group learning component assessing blood smears and blood results from real world cases to form appropriate nursing care plans!
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
