We are currently helping Oakwood Park Kennels (RG40 3YZ) to recruit a new Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant Apprentice. This is a practical apprenticeship with most training being hands on experience with their team. They are offering an opportunity to gain experience with a wide variety of dogs, all shapes, sizes and breeds. Invaluable to anyone wanting to go on to work with dogs whether in a kennels environment or any dog handling role.
What you'll do at work
- All aspects of maintaining kennels hygiene to a high standard and complying with licensing guidelines. Cleaning kennels and runs, beds and bedding as well as exercise areas
- Feeding, exercising, monitoring health and well-being of all dogs boarding
- Customer interaction on dogs’ arrival and departure handovers
Summary
Wage: £15,808 to £25,114.96, depending on your age National Minimum Wage Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)
Hours: 8.20am - 5.30pm including 2 short breaks and 1 hour lunch. Average 38 hours per week over 7 days. Working days to be confirmed, rota will include weekends and Bank Holidays. Christmas and New Year working is normally shared between all staff. 38 hours a week

As part of this apprenticeship, you will undertake the Animal Care and Welfare Assistant (Level 2 Apprenticeship) qualification with The College of Animal Welfare.
