Job details:

Park Vets are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious RVN to join our friendly and dedicated team of nurses at our RCVS accredited General Practice Veterinary Surgery in Watford.  Experienced 2nd year nursing students are also encouraged to apply. This position is full time but hours may be negotiable.

We are a large, busy, independent and forward thinking Small Animal Practice with a patient focused ethos.

Our nurses play a large and valuable part in our practice working closely with our vets to ensure the best possible care is given to our patients. We are a training practice and pride ourselves on ensuring that all of our nurses are trained to a very high standard. This position includes working in theatre, hospital ward and pharmacy departments as well as administering nursing consultations with clients and providing student nurse training.

Applicants should have good practical skills and an ability to use initiative when working alone or as part of a team. Our nursing team is very supportive and can provide extra training if you are looking to return to veterinary nursing after a break or just beginning your veterinary nursing career.

We have a large case load each day that includes dogs, cats and some exotic species. This position would suit an RVN looking to fully utilize their nursing skills and really make a difference.

Working hours are 38 per week, to include 1 in 4 weekends and 2-3 bank holidays per year (with a lieu day given for each bank holiday worked).  Wage is negotiable, and dependent on experience, with a starting basic wage of £22,000/pa plus overtime for newly qualified nurses. All overtime is paid in addition to basic hours worked with double time on weekends and Bank Holidays.

Week day hours are between 8am and 4:30pm with 1 longer shift each week from 8:30am – 8pm. Our working hours are sociable and include 3 week days off per month. We employ night staff to care for our in-patients and use Vets Now for our emergency OOH work.

CPD is funded and special nursing interests are encouraged and supported.

Applicants are welcome to contact us to arrange a shadow/trial day to see the Practice before applying.
