Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – Small Animal
Name: Hook Norton Veterinary Group
Address: White Hills Surgery, Sibford Rd,, OX15 5DG
We are a modern, forward-thinking practice with separate pet, farm and equine departments and over 30 dedicated vets providing round-the-clock care. We are proud to be one of the founding members of XLVets, a group of privately-owned veterinary practices spanning the length and breadth of the UK, working together to share veterinary ideas, knowledge, and skills. We value everyone as an individual. Whilst the practice is no longer a small family-run business, everyone (vets, nurses, admin) within the business has a family, and we welcome them into our HNVG family.
Each individual is a cog in the HNVG team, and we know that we need to all be turning in the right direction to keep the ship sailing smoothly. This is why we push ourselves to help everyone achieve the right work-life balance. We have an active Thriving in Practice initiative, and once COVID allows, we will be able to get together socially. Fingers crossed for our 40th Anniversary party in September! As well as Thriving in Practice, clinical mentoring is offered via designated internal staff and complemented with a career pathway designed to support your long-term aspirations. With the aim of delivering the best care for your pets, horses, and livestock, we are committed to providing a professional modern veterinary service with traditional values in an approachable compassionate manner.

Hook Norton Veterinary Group is an independent practice that offers dedicated small animal, equine and farm care across the beautiful Cotswolds. Our main tier-3 RCVS accredited Hospital is based on the outskirts of Hook Norton, with a further 3 branches based within the surrounding area. We are a proud founding member of XLVets and always strive for excellence in practice.
We are a rural practice; however, if you still need your ‘city fix, Oxford is within easy driving distance or via train from Banbury. We have great local facilities, schools and lots of cosy pubs! This is an excellent opportunity for a good work/life balance, providing the time to join our vibrant local community & enjoy the fabulous Cotswolds.
We have an immediate vacancy for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our large, friendly nursing team. We can be flexible and are looking for a RVN to work full or part-time, either on a permanent or locum contract and are free of IR35 legislation.
You would be part of a dedicated nursing team that not only ensure the welfare of our animals but take pride in delivering clinical care to the highest standard whilst maintaining a professional and friendly service to clients.

A day in the life.
Our nurses ‘nurse’ and use schedule 3 techniques on a daily basis. Daily duties include blood sampling, intubation, IV catheter placement and much more.
Nurses rotate in different roles, ensuring you see and care for a wide variety of cases. The two main roles are a Kennels Nurse, where you will have inpatients and day patients in your care. Patients are closely monitored at frequent intervals throughout the day. Our observations are key to the care of the patient, and any clinical changes are brought to the attention of the case veterinary surgeon directly. Or an Ops Nurse, where you play a vital role in peri-operative nursing. We have a busy and varied ops schedule, where 12+ ops a day is normal for us. Ops include routines, orthopaedics, Lap spays and many more. To aid us in anaesthesia monitoring, we have 2 multi-parameter machines, 2 pulse oximeters, 3 blood pressure machines and a separate ECG machine.
We actively encourage all our nurses to undertake certificates; the opportunity is there if you want it! Currently, we have 3 nurses undertaking certificates.
