About us
We are based in the lovely town of Hertford and have 1 Vet,2 part time RVN’s, 2 VCA’s (1 of which will be progressing to an SVN in January!) and a full-time receptionist.
The clinic is built on purpose-built premises with separate wards for cats and dogs and an isolation unit. We have ultrasound, digital Xray, in house laboratory with microscope, capnography with pulse oximetry and a theatre dedicated to sterile procedures. The practice has great clientele with a high percentage of insured pets, and we also run 30 minute appointments for non-routine cases and 15 minute for vaccine, to give the best service possible.
We have a wide and varied case load with specialists coming to the practice to perform an array of procedures such as cardiac scans, abdominal ultrasound with sampling, and orthopaedic procedures. Our nurses have the opportunity to assist in all areas, from theatre to nurse clinics and everything in between!
About you
You will help with the daily running of the practice to ensure a high standard care for Patients and Clients. Nurses are the heart of our practice and perform an integral clinical role in caring for our patients. You’ll have great communication and organisation skills and take pride in working to a high standard. You will have an interest in and want to learn about, the practice as a business, as well as how to motivate a team to achieve their personal and practice goals. They key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care.
As a Head Nurse you’ll be directing the day to day running of the clinical team, lending a hand where needed and acting as a role model to our growing nurse and VCA team in developing their skills, as well as having managerial skills to optimise workflow.
You’ll be developing the potential of our RVNs in their individual surgical and medical interests, as well as assisting the training of the whole nurse and VCA team. You’ll be involved in appraisals and auditing of clinical care, and so must be able to inspire and motivate.
You will be fully supported by our Practice Owner who is an experienced vet and holds a Master in Clinical Oncology.
About the role
This role will be working full time, 40 hours a week. There are no OOH and only 1 in 3 Saturday’s that you will either receive extra pay for or time off in lieu, ensuring an excellent work life balance!
Here at Hertford you will have 2 different shifts which both include a 30 minute unpaid lunch, these are as follows
- 8:45am – 17:15pm
- 10:45am – 19:15pm
The 1 in 3 Saturdays will be 9:00am – 13:00pm
