Do you have a passion for horses and want to turn it into a career? Undertaking a horse care course / equine apprenticeship at The College of Animal Welfare gives you the chance to develop the skills and confidence needed to work with these amazing animals every day. Our courses combine practical training with essential knowledge, so you’ll be prepared for real-life work in the equine industry.

We offer a range of Horse Care qualifications to suit different levels of experience and career ambitions:

  • Introductory courses – Perfect if you’re new to working with horses and want to gain basic skills and confidence.
  • Intermediate and advanced courses – Designed for those who want to develop their knowledge further and work towards supervisory or specialist roles.

Subject Overview

Our equine courses are designed for anyone who wants to learn how to look after horses safely and professionally. From daily husbandry and grooming through to nutrition, exercise, and health care, you’ll explore all the key areas of equine welfare.

You’ll learn through hands-on activities as well as classroom sessions, supported by tutors with years of experience in the industry. Whether you’re just starting out or already working with horses, you’ll find a course level to suit your goals.
