Overview

If you’re passionate about dogs and want a career that is practical, rewarding and hands-on, the Dog Groomer Level 2 Apprenticeship could be the perfect place to start.

This apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to earn while you learn, developing real industry experience in a working dog grooming environment while gaining a nationally recognised qualification. It is designed for people who want more than classroom learning — combining practical salon experience with expert teaching and professional support to help you build the confidence and skills needed to succeed in the dog grooming industry.

As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals in a real grooming environment, learning how to safely prepare, bathe, dry, trim and style dogs while developing your understanding of canine behaviour, welfare and professional salon practice. Every day gives you the chance to build practical skills, gain confidence handling a variety of dogs and become part of a growing and rewarding industry.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to find my own employment in a dog grooming salon before applying for this apprenticeship, or can you help?

Yes. In order to apply for this apprenticeship, you must have already secured employment in a dog grooming business in England. Unfortunately at the current time we are unable to source this employment for you.

How can I find a dog grooming apprenticeship job?

Many of our students gain their apprenticeship job via volunteering in dog grooming salons to get a ‘foot in the door’ should a vacancy then come up. Other ideas include contacting salons close to you to ask if anyone is looking to recruit an apprentice, gaining as much experience working with dogs as you can to build your CV, looking on the Government’s ‘Find an Apprenticeship Vacancy’ website, or signing up to apprenticeship job alerts on our own website.
