Tubes, lines and drains – a practical approach to their placement & management: This session aims to provide you with as many practical tips as possible for tube, line and/or drain placements. There are many different techniques in which tubes, lines and/or drains are placed and the techniques that are utilised are often down to user preference of the person placing that tube, line or drain. Taking this into consideration, this means, as nurses, we are often expected to be familiar and confident with multiple different techniques which can be overwhelming if you are not placing these tubes, lines and/or drains often. Ultimately, it doesn’t usually matter which technique the placer utilises to place and secure the patients tubes, lines or drains if the techniques are safe for the patient.
