Overview

This industry-recognised qualification is designed for aspiring groomers who are ready to take the next step towards working professionally in the dog grooming industry. Building on the foundations of the Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants, this course will help you develop the confidence, technical ability and professional standards needed to groom dogs safely, skillfully and compassionately.

At The College of Animal Welfare, you won’t just learn the theory — you’ll gain extensive hands-on experience working with a wide range of breeds, coat types, temperaments and grooming styles. You’ll learn alongside experienced, qualified dog grooming tutors who are passionate about helping students succeed and supporting you every step of the way.

By the end of the programme, you’ll feel confident grooming dogs to a professional standard while always prioritising animal welfare and client satisfaction. Whether your goal is to work in a professional salon, become self-employed, open your own grooming business or simply take your grooming skills to the next level, this course can help you get there.

What do our students say?

"I particularly enjoyed the theory lessons which gave me knowledge and understanding of the dog’s anatomy, health and so much more! The practical lessons gave me the confidence to safely handle a range of dogs, complete comprehensive health checks, as well as how to style a range of breeds to the customers’ requests whilst always putting the dog’s welfare first. All the tutors have been incredibly supportive throughout and always challenge you to improve your knowledge and skills".

Charlotte Shewry

"The part of the course I enjoy the most is the practical grooming – from bathing and drying to learning different styling techniques. Working with a variety of breeds has been exciting and rewarding. What I appreciate most is the welcoming, supportive environment at the College. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the tutors and staff who have stood by me from the beginning. Their encouragement and flexibility made it possible for me to keep studying and follow this new path".

Ana Manara

"I loved that it [the course] gave me my identity back. I wasn’t just a mum or a wife, I was Kirsty. I made friends and did something that genuinely made me happy. Wednesday was always my favourite day of the week as I was going to college. The course gave me the confidence to learn a trade and then go on to open my business doing something I love and could fit in around my family.
