This June, the College of Animal Welfare is proud to come together to celebrate Pride Month, recognising and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community across our staff, students, and wider network. Pride Month is an important opportunity for us to reflect on the values that underpin everything we do — compassion, respect, and inclusion.
What we have planned
Throughout the month, we have a wide range of activities designed to celebrate Pride, raise awareness, and encourage meaningful conversation across our centres.
To kick things off, we’ll be sharing a Pride guide with staff and students, alongside resources, posters, and information about local community events.

We’re also providing opportunities for staff to engage and learn. This includes lunch drop-in sessions, offering a supportive space to explore language, understanding, and inclusion in practice.
Students will have plenty of opportunities to get involved too. Across the month, centres will host interactive activities including lunchtime quizzes on LGBTQIA+ topics, Pride bracelet-making, and a college-wide Pride flag and poster design competition. These activities are designed to be fun, creative, and thought-provoking — encouraging everyone to reflect on what Pride means to them.
Later in the month, we’ll be sharing stories and reflections from our staff, including short videos on what they’ve learned during Pride and how they’ll carry this forward in their work. We’ll also be celebrating the creativity of our students by announcing the winners of our Pride design competition.
Why Pride matters
While Pride Month is a key moment for celebration and awareness, our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is year-round. These activities are part of a broader effort to ensure that everyone at The College of Animal Welfare feels safe, supported, and able to be their authentic selves.
By coming together to celebrate Pride, we’re continuing to build a culture where diversity is valued, voices are heard, and everyone can thrive.
